Las Cruces, NM – The American Legion Auxiliary is coordinating a National Day of Service Project on Patriot Day, Monday, September 11, 2017. The community is invited to participate in the raising of the Garrison Flag and a Remembrance Ceremony at Veteran’s Park at 8:00 a.m. Afterward, there will be an Employment & Recruitment Fair held at the Joe Quesenberry American Legion Post 10 located at 1185 E. Madrid Avenue in Las Cruces from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. with a brief closing ceremony at 4 p.m. The Employment & Recruitment Fair will focus on Veterans, transitioning Service Members, First Responders, and their families.  The event is free and open to the public.  There will be a Guest Speaker at Noon and a light lunch will be served.  The primary sponsors of the event are the American Legion Auxiliary and the Corporation for National & Community Service.  The local American Legion Auxiliary Unit 10 is working in collaboration with the American Legion, the NM Workforce Connection, and the City of Las Cruces.

The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) members have dedicated themselves for nearly a century to meeting the needs of our nation’s veterans, military, and their families both here and abroad. They volunteer millions of hours yearly, with a value averaging $2 billion each year. As part of the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization, ALA volunteers across the country also step up to honor veterans and military through annual scholarships and with ALA Girls State programs, teaching high school juniors to be leaders grounded in patriotism and Americanism. To learn more about the ALA’s mission or to volunteer, donate or join, visit www.ALAforVeterans.org.
