Training Event Set for Area Clergy
ALBUQUERQUE – Clergy members who want to assist veterans, service members and their families are invited to attend a free outreach workshop on Aug. 24 in Albuquerque.
The Community Clergy Training Program (CCTP) offers critical resources to educate and support the faith community. Service members, veterans and their family members may seek help from clergy because they feel the faith community can provide anonymity, confidentiality and a stigma-free environment. Yet, clergy members sometimes have limited knowledge about readjustment difficulties and the unique health issues – post-traumatic stress, depression – common to returning warriors.
The outreach event will happen from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 24 at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial, located at 1100 Louisiana Boulevard SE in Albuquerque. Complimentary lunch will be provided by the Kirtland Air Force Base Chaplain Corps.
This program does not train clergy to become VA chaplains or to minister in the VA Medical Center. The event is sponsored by the New Mexico VA Health Care Chaplain Service, in cooperation with attending organizations. To register, or for more information, please contact Noreen Watts at (931) 206-6080, or email NWatts@AFSC.com.

As you may recall NM DVR had to postpone the Statewide Event that was scheduled in early April. I am happy to announce we have been provided a new date for our event. The NMDVR event will now be held August 30, 2017. The location will remain the same at: 5400 Gibson, SE Albuquerque, NM 87108 inside the Education Center. I am contacting you to determine if you would still be interested in providing an informational table at our newly scheduled event.
We will be providing a table for you to provide our staff with information materials regarding your services. Set-up for the tables should be completed by 9:00 am on 8/30/2017 and vendors are welcome to leave after 3:30 p.m. Staff will have time between their training sessions, breaks and lunch to visit the informational tables. We expect approximately 250 staff to be in attendance. Lunch will be on your own.
